Apple Original Films has produced several excellent movies for its streaming service Apple TV Plus in recent years. The studio received positive reviews for their 2021 release of the coming-of-age dramedy CODA. Apple TV+’s ranks have been significantly boosted by Cooper Raiff’s Cha Cha Real Smooth and Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand. It makes sense that they would go ahead with more original films to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video after the commercial success of CODA and the projects above.
The plot of Raymond & Ray centers on two half-brothers who reunite at their father’s burial. They both suffered from his poor parenting, but they find some common ground during this burial, which allows them to start over despite their loss. The legacy of their tumultuous relationship with their demanding father would serve as the cornerstone for a string of connections, shocking family revelations, and challenging emotional diversions during the funeral, stretching these adult siblings in ways they never imagined imaginable. In the end, everyone involved receives closure that helps them heal.
