Fans trend “Justice for Sanju Samson”, know the reason here!

If you are an active social media user, especially Twitter, you have surely come across quite a few random things that Twitter users have managed to trend on the microblogging site over these years. And now, one such Twitter trend that has been baffling Indian Twitter users this morning has been #JusticeforSanjuSamson; which revolves around his selection snub for the India-New Zealand series. As some of the senior players are at rest, the Indian team for the T20I series has introduced some fresh faces, and some new players have actually proven their performance, but who have also missed the bus like Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Ravi Bishnoi, etc. In this, Sanju Samson, who is the Skipper of Rajasthan Royals, too had his best moments in the IPL 2021 but unfortunately, he did not find favor with the selectors. As a result, his fans took to Twitter to demand justice for the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter.

For the record, Sanju Samson was not selected for the T20 World Cup squad either. It’s surprising because even though his numbers in IPL 2021 were quite impressive, he was not selected. Samson made 48 runs at 40.33 striking the ball at 136.72 in 14 matches. Rishabh Pant was the first choice wicketkeeper batter, and also Ishan Kishan, despite having a horror run in the second phase of the IPL in UAE, was added to the T20 World Cup squad as the backup option to Rishabh Pant. It was disappointing for the fans as  Samson never had any real chance at making the India-NZ squad as well. But it has to be noted that with Rahul Dravid at the helm, we may expect things may change and the tide may turn in Samson’s favor.

Samson’s last outing in Indian colors was in Sri Lanka, part of the second-string team. He also managed scores of 27, 7, and 0 in the three T20Is and 46 in the lone ODI (his maiden as well). As he debuted way back in 2015 as a 19-year-old, the amazingly talented Samson has unfortunately failed to grab his opportunities. Since then, he has only managed to add 9 T20I appearances to his name and has seen his junior U-19 counterparts namely Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan leapfrogged the 26-year-old.

And because of all this injustice according to fans, here’s how the fans started the trend #JusticeforSanjuSamson

A Twitter user commented, “So as usual Sanju is dropped, Man literally had his best IPL season. Sanju started playing IPL at the age of 18 and also won the emerging player award. He is now 26!

If groomed earlier he could have been our no4. Don’t want him to be a wasted talent.”

While the other user wrote, “I don’t know why bcci isn’t backing or picking Sanju Samson he has performed consistently in ipl and smart they say that he is inconsistent but what about now? Why he is being ignored #justiceforsanjusamson”

Yet another user wrote, “Actually what is really happening to Sanju Samson. He’s such a wonderful batsman and wicket-keeper he deserves to play in the Indian Team. Why didn’t @BCCI give chance to him? He has proved his talent in many matches. Hard luck @IamSanjuSamson.”

And in addition to this, Kumar Sangakkara, a Sri Lankan cricketer, has also put forth his thoughts on Samson. He said, “He is a very good player and a special talent. He has done exceptionally well for us this season. I am sure he has aspirations to play for India, and at some point, I think he will be selected for a longer run. He is good and ready at any time that he is picked.”
