According to the website of Brandwatch, it is known that this is the second year in a row that ‘musician’ appears to be the most influential profession on the platform. According to them, 54% of the ranked influencers fall under this category.

Mentioning the second most influential profession, they wrote that ‘Television host’ is an influential profession on Twitter, as from the top 50 influencers in the list, 12% fall under this category.

Other professions such as business, sports, and politicians each accounted for 6% of the ranked influencers’ professions.  Only two politicians appeared in the top 10: Barack Obama and Narendra Modi, unlike last year.

According to their data, it suggested that the consumers who were home bounded coped up with all sorts of pandemic-inflicted stress by distracting themselves with subscription services and streaming services to entertain themselves. So there’s a chance that because of these reasons,  the shift in influence from politics in 2020 to entertainment in 2021 has happened.

Here’s a simple demographic breakdown of the influencers according to the reports of Brandwatch:

Among these top 50 identified influencers, 61% are male and 39% female, along with the majority based in the United States (67%), and then Brazil (13%).

As per the reports of Brandwatch, they also looked into conversation insights from the top 50 influencers, and three themes topped the discussions, which are, pop culture, style/fashion/body art, and sports, with the last one accounting for 35.8% of all conversations.

So these are the top 50 most influential people on Twitter worldwide that have been influencing people during this pandemic, through social media.
