The anticipation is finally coming to an end as two episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season premiered on Paramount Network Sunday night. The Dutton family drama persisted, with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) taking office as governor of Montana being the most prominent development.
Despite airing on the fledgling Paramount Network and having perplexing streaming regulations, Yellowstone is still the most popular show on cable television. The numbers for the Season 5 premiere should be out shortly, and given how keenly anticipated the program was, it wouldn’t be at all remarkable if it set a new record for viewers.

Review of Yellowstone Season 5
After four seasons of plotting, manipulating, and power struggles over Montana’s largely unspoiled beauty, John Dutton is now in charge, with Beth overseeing things in the background. In the Season 5 two-part opener, his goals are made plain. Despite John’s new job, the ranch employees have not altered their habits, which results in some of the finest situations in these pilot episodes.
Recap of Yellowstone Season 4
After the terrible events of the Season 4 finale, Yellowstone Season 5 began up where it left off. Beth, who is known to be the true brains behind all of the operations at the Yellowstone-Dutton Ranch, had tricked her adoptive brother Jamie into killing his original father, Garrett. Beth believed Garrett had it coming once it was discovered that he had authorized the attempted attacks on John, Beth, and Kayce back in Season 3. In order to keep Jamie under control and out of the governor’s campaign, she also made sure to hold onto the proof. She just wed Rip Wheeler and witnessed her father’s novel, a perplexing friend who is vegan.
Prequels and spin-offs for Yellowstone
In the universe of Taylor Sheridan programs about ranchers, Yellowstone is no longer alone. Late last year, the prequel miniseries 1883, which told the genesis tale of the Dutton family’s arrival in Montana, was broadcast on Paramount+. Tim McGraw played her father, James, and Isabel May portrayed Elsa, the fearless and intrepid adolescent sister of John Dutton’s paternal grandpa, Reeves was the illustrious first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. He had previously been a slave and had apprehended over 3,000 offenders.
A new Yellowstone prequel, named 1923, will resume up in December where the first prequel left off, with the Duttons’ subsequent generation looking after their ranch in the years following World War I and the beginning of Prohibition. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will play Jacob and Cara Dutton, Tim McGraw’s James Dutton’s brother and sister-in-law from 1883, respectively, in that program.
It relates the tale of how the ranch is still run in the same manner as it was more than a century ago. Including the original program, that spin-off will be broadcast on Paramount Network.
