As the brands are busy coming up with new ideas for the festive season ad, it seems that the latest Diwali ad of Cadbury is winning the internet. Indeed, Cadbury is one of the brands which is known for their powerful ads, as they come up with thought-provoking and relatable commercials during special festivals or occasions. This time too, they have proven this. For this Diwali, the brand came up with an advertisement that featured Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador of small local businesses that have suffered due to the covid-19 pandemic. And the internet is lauding the initiative and the plot of the ad.
Here is how the ad goes. The ad, which is titled, “not just a Cadbury ad”, first begins with a voice-over and also the bytes of small and local businessmen telling about the sufferings that they experienced during this pandemic and sharing it with the viewers. And further, the video continued by showcasing, “This Diwali, we helped hundreds of small businesses by making India’s biggest brand ambassador, their brand ambassador.”
In the next shot, the ad showed Shah Rukh Khan, who appeared dressed up in a cream-colored sherwani. It can be seen that he mentioned the names of different shops and then urged all the viewers to buy clothes, shoes, sweets, gadgets, etc. from them and support them. Further, the brand informed through their ad that they used machine learning so that they can create Shah Rukh Khan’s face and voice to take the local store names in the ad. The video continued, “It is impossible to cover all the stores, so we gave the power to the people to create their own version of ‘Not Just a Cadbury Ad.’
Towards the end of the video, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Humare aas paas ki jo dukaane hai, unki bhi to Diwali meethi honi chahiye na (The small stores around us deserve to have a happy Diwali).”
As the commercial was uploaded on YouTube, it went viral because of their thoughtful idea. The brand’s powerful initiative resonated with the view so they appreciated the company’s initiative to promote small businesses through this amazing Diwali ad. Not only on YouTube, the video got viral on other social media platforms such as Twitter as people started to share it and also their thoughts on a wide range.
