UP CM to lay foundation stone of 11 projects in Vajpayee’s native village on Good Governance Day! Know more

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that he will lay the foundation stone of 11 public welfare projects, which are worth ₹230 crore. He will lay the foundation stone of these 11 projects on the occasion of ‘Good Governance Day’. The foundation stone of the projects are being laid in Bateshwar village of Agra, which is the native village of India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter to share about this news and also said he will launch a campaign from the Ekana Cricket Stadium. This campaign is released in order to distribute one crore free tablets and smartphones to students in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s announcement comes days after the Centre announced and started the ‘Good Governance Week’. The good governance week is scheduled from December 20 till December 26. The events under the good governance week will include a nationwide campaign for Redressal of Public Grievances and Improving Service Delivery. And in addition to this, the inauguration of the Exhibition on Good Governance Practices will also take place.

Last week Union Minister Jitendra Singh informed that many programmes are planned for highlighting the good governance initiatives which are taken by the Centre, and the main theme is to introduce good governance in rural areas. “A series of programmes are planned to highlight various good governance initiatives taken by the Centre during the week. The main theme of the campaign is to take good governance to the rural areas,” Union minister Jitendra Singh said last week.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will on December 26 (Sunday) lay the foundation stone of 75 houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This will be constructed on a piece of land that was freed from the illegal possession of Mafioso-turned-politician and ex-MP Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj, according to the senior BJP leaders.

“This would be the first government construction on a land that has been freed from the mafia and bears significance as the Yogi government wants to convey the message to masses that days of ‘Mafiaraj’ in the state are over and that now a popular CM is ruling the state and various pieces of land freed from Mafiosi and criminals would be used for the welfare of the poor, starting from this piece of land which falls in my assembly constituency,” said Singh, the MLA from Allahabad west assembly of Prayagraj.

Singh, who is also the state government’s spokesman, on Thursday,  inspected the foundation stone laying site, and he said that the CM will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate many other development works. The CM will also address a public meeting and can also review the preparations for Magh Mela.

Since 2014, the Good Governance Day has been celebrated every year on December 25. The reason for celebrating the good governance day on December 25th is that this day is celebrated as the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. December 25th is marked as the day to celebrate good governance day by the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre which was then followed by the announcement of Vajpayee as a recipient of the Bharat Ratna on December 23, 2014 and he was conferred with the Bharat Ratna in 2015.

During the last Good Governance Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a book titled ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Parliament: A Commemorative Volume’ as a tribute and paid floral tributes at the former Prime Minister’s portrait. The former Prime Minister’s portrait was unveiled in the Central Hall of Parliament on February 12, 2019.
