The first season of Derry Girls, a popular Netflix series, debuted in 2019, and Season 2 followed suit later that year. What is the story of Derry Girls?
The show is about a gang of four deliciously foul-mouthed Catholic high school girls (and their one male buddy, a small English lad named James) in Londonderry, Northern Ireland in the 1990s, coming of age during a period of political turbulence in their nation.
The show has a fantastic ’90s soundtrack and is a funny look at what happens when puberty and Catholicism mix. Because Season 3 is the show’s final season, it will end as the kids’ graduation approaches and the Troubles in Ireland come to an end.
Derry Girls, a Channel 4 production, is returning to the airways in the United Kingdom tonight with the premiere of Season 3 on the British channel. The six-episode season will be shown on a weekly basis. Unfortunately, we in the United States will have to wait a little longer to see it online.
When will Season 3 of Derry Girls be released in the United States?
Regrettably, Netflix has yet to announce a debut date for Derry Girls Season 3. We can fairly presume that the show will not premiere in the United Kingdom until all six episodes of Season 3 have aired. The series finale will premiere on May 17th in the United Kingdom, which means we’ll have to wait until the summer of 2022 to see it here in the United States.
