David Warner recreates “Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coke bottle scene” in a press conference.

On Thursday, the Australian cricketer David Warner showed his inner Cristiano Ronaldo, following the team’s T20 world cup match which they won against Sri Lanka. David Warner recreated Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunt that cost Coca-Cola $5.2 billion back in June.

In the pre-match conference of Portugal’s Euro 2020 opener which was against Hungary, Cristiano Ronaldo removed the bottles of Coca-Cola which was displayed on the table during the event. Further, he held two bottles and said “drink water”, telling to avoid aerated drinks such as coca-cola.

But then it was later reported that because of this stunt done by Ronaldo Coca Cola shares had fallen 1.6 % following this incident. Thus, following the incident, it cost the company a loss of $5.2 billion. Coca-Cola later issued a statement that said, “everyone is entitled to their drink preferences and everyone has different tastes and needs.”

The soft drink brand is the non-alcoholic beverage partner of the international cricket council ICC till 2023 and the Coca-Cola brand is also one of the biggest sponsors of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Well, David Warner try to do something the same as Ronaldo during the press conference but then he was asked to put the bottles back to which he replied cheekily, “if it’s good enough for Cristiano it is good enough for me.”

On 28 October 2021 in the encounter between Australia and Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan side gained a decent total of 154/6 on the scoreboard. David Warner was indeed in great form and scored a whirlwind 65 off 42 deliveries at the top of the order and in this way, he helped Australia please pass to the target with 7 wickets and 3 overs to spare.

“Everyone was talking about my form, which I reiterated was not a thing I was worried about. It was about going out there and starting well. That‘s all we’re trying to do, apply pressure to the bowlers. It was great to get out there in the middle and spend some time there, running between the wickets. Little things like that just keep your mind ticking. Obviously, in the last six to 12 months, we haven‘t played that much cricket so I haven’t been in those situations too often. It’s not so much about getting runs for myself, it’s about getting us off to a good start and we managed to do that.” Warner told reporters after the win.

David Warner struck 10 fours in his enterprising innings and apart from him, skipper Aaron Finch and batsman Steven Smith contributed useful runs as well.  Finch’s superb 23 – ball 37 while, on the other hand, Steven Smith stayed the end and helped himself to a patient 28.

David Warner is surely one of the greatest batsmen ever played in the Australian side and the T20I format of the game. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer of the Australian side in T20I cricket. He has plundered 2344 runs in 83 innings at an average of 31.67 and a strike rate of close to 140.

David Warner will take the side of Australia and they will play on the field, 30th October 2021 when kangaroos clash against their rivals which will be conducted at the Dubai International cricket stadium.
