In the new three-part police drama Granite Harbour on BBC1, Small Axe actor Romario Simpson plays former soldier-turned-cop Davis Lindo.

After completing his last tour, he is transported to Scotland’s northeast to begin training as a detective constable. He is paired with his trainer, DCI Tara “Bart” Bartlett (Annika star Hannah Donaldson). They must first solve the murder of an influential member of the oil sector.

The investigation into the killing of a top oil industry executive in the city and the ensuing “corporate fight between old and new energy” will be the main focus of Granite Harbour’s first season.

Romario Simpson, who performed in Knots and Crosses, Small Axe, and Shetland and Annika, and Hannah Donaldson, who most recently appeared in The Enemy at the National Theatre of Scotland, have been cast in the two starring roles.

After Lance Corporal Davis Lindo’s hopes of becoming a New Scotland Yard investigator are destroyed when he is sent to Aberdeen, he allies with Detective Chief Inspector “Tara Bart” Bartlett, his new instructor.

The plot of Granite Harbour  

Granite Harbour explores the new life of Lance Corporal Davis Lindo (Romario Simpson). He aspires to work as a detective at New Scotland Yard after completing his final tour with the Royal Military Police. Instead, his aspirations are dashed, and he is to Aberdeen to train as a detective constable. So, which is entirely foreign to all the soldier has ever known. The fortunate DCI Tara Bartlett, a streetwise, razor-sharp Scotswoman used to work alone, is with Davis as his mentor. Together, the unusual pair must look into the murder of one of Dundee’s most recognisable oil sector figures. So, which forces them into a legal dispute.
