The Mandalorian Season 3 and the eagerly anticipated Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson will kick off what looks like a great year for Star Wars television. But there are other series debuting this year besides these two. Star Wars is taking a new turn with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew after more Western-inspired shows like The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian or political thrillers like Andor. This program will have a considerably younger ensemble led by the remarkable Jude Law and an all-star cast.
The series’ main writers are Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Chris Ford and Jon Watts. Despite the success of their previous endeavors, this will be their first step into the Star Wars universe. Producers Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian), who have worked on almost all Star Wars TV shows excluding Andor, will help them. There are currently few details available about the program, but this is everything we know about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
Star Wars : Skeleton Crew Release date
Although the release date for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is still unknown, we do know that it will happen sometime in 2023. Nevertheless, we can calculate a general release time range based on a few well-known factors. We know that the series began filming in Los Angeles in September 2022, and Star Wars episodes typically take around a year and a half to release.
Additionally, we know that Ahsoka will come out after The Mandalorian because that series’ filming will wrap up in the fall of 2022. Under the assumption that Lucasfilm doesn’t want to overlap their shows (as they have avoided doing in the past), this puts the series up for a mid-to-late-summer release. This show will only be available on Disney+, just like the Star Wars series. Disney has thankfully been expanding the areas where Disney+ is available. The streaming service is extending its presence throughout the Middle East and Africa. Since Disney+ is already available in 130 nations, everyone may enjoy Star Wars.
The cast of Star Wars : Skeleton Crew
We do not currently have complete information about the show’s cast. This is most likely due to the cast’s large number of minor actors and possibly many new faces. Hopefully, the actors and actresses will have the same talent as the fresh faces from Netflix’s Stranger Things, who have since developed into major stars. While they would make sense in these roles, it has not yet been confirmed that Kyriana Kratter (Bunk’D) and Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Encanto) will be a part of the cast. Jude Law is the most prominent cast member of those we know thus far. He is renowned for playing various factors in both esoteric and mainstream franchises, including franchise roles in films like Captain Marvel. The majority of the cast will be taken care of by Law’s character, another adopted father figure in Star Wars.
The plot of Star Wars : Skeleton Crew
Nine years have passed after the Battle of Yavin in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. This starts five years after Return of the Jedi and almost at the same time as Season 1 of The Mandalorian, for those unfamiliar with the ever-expanding Star Wars timeline. The show’s creator, Jon Watts, has previously reassured viewers that it “will not be a kid’s show” in case they were worried that it might only be appropriate for young viewers. He made some remarks during the Star Wars Celebration 2022 that suggest this program will have some darker themes. In a recent interview, Christopher Ford and Jon Watts said the series is “a galactic remake of the iconic Amblin coming-of-age adventure flicks of the ’80s.” The show’s main plot concerns a group of four young kids from an undiscovered planet who accidentally end up inside the familiar Star Wars universe.
Being that the series has only recently begun filming, it is understandable why we have only seen a few images and concepts. However, this hasn’t stopped a few cunning Bothans from trying to learn more. A couple of The Bespin Bulletin’s sly Bothans have shot staged pictures of what appears to be a separatist tank. We’re not sure why one of them would be on the set, considering that this show takes place long after the Clone Wars. One of the adult Clone Wars characters may be experiencing a flashback. Equally likely is the possibility that some unidentified warlord still possesses the antique tools he stole from an Imperial warehouse. This is undoubtedly a twist in the story that keeps us on our toes as we wait for Season 1.
We do not have a retailer yet for this one.
