Brad Pitt is at the center of one of 2022’s most anticipated action films, Bullet Train, which features an all-star ensemble and a gripping narrative. Despite Hollywood’s continued reliance on well-known IP and characters, Sony hopes to launch another new movie franchise after Uncharted in 2022. Instead of rehashing The Taking of Pelham 123 or previous train-themed films, the film teams Brad Pitt with John Wick co-director David Leitch for a new high-speed action thriller based on Ktar Isaka’s novel.
While Brad Pitt has been an A-list Hollywood movie star for decades, David Leitch has only just emerged as a filmmaker. He left John Wick behind to develop Atomic Blonde, an original assassin film, before moving on to franchise blockbusters Deadpool 2 and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Leitch and Pitt initially collaborated on a Fox Marvel picture, Deadpool 2, in which Brad Pitt had a brief appearance. They collaborated on Bullet Train in 2020, just after Leitch took over as director from Antonie Fuqua. Later that year, in the middle of COVID-19, filming commenced.
Bullet Train is one of the most awaited films of the year 2022. If all goes well, it may even be the start of a new franchise for Sony. Before the premiere of Bullet Train, here’s all you need to know about the plot, characters, and more.
Brad Pitt leads a superb Bullet Train cast as Ladybug, an aged assassin. When can we expected “Bullet Train” to be released in theaters?
Bullet Train is slated to be released on July 15, 2022. Sony first stated that the film will be released exclusively in cinemas throughout the world in April 2022, however that date was then pushed back to July. This allowed the potentially successful action film to avoid competing with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at the box office. When it comes to high-profile releases, it presently gets the July 15 weekend to itself, albeit it will arrive one week after Thor: Love and Thunder.
The plot of Bullet Train follows Ladybug as he prepares to retire from his life as an assassin. Sandra Bullock’s Maria Beetle, on the other hand, recruits him for one more mission: retrieving a briefcase aboard a bullet train travelling from Tokyo to Morioka. Ladybug finds opposing assassins onboard the railroad only after she has boarded it. As a result, Ladybug is forced to combat these other assassins without being recognised in order to finish his job.
The Bullet Train marketing campaign was launched by Sony in March 2022. Although a viral video was discovered online in late February, the first Bullet Train teaser was released in early March. It gave us our first sight at Brad Pitt facing a slew of various assassins. The clip emphasised the excellent action that the film should have, as well as some funny parts. The initial online reaction to Bullet Train’s marketing was highly favourable, suggesting Sony may have a hit on its hands.
Details of the scheme remain a carefully guarded secret, but we do know that five assassins board Japan’s lightning-fast bullet train. As the high-speed engine rushes across the country with barely a few pauses, the five assassins realise their missions are linked, and the journey becomes a race against time with each other as to reach their destination alive.
According to the image on David Leitch’s Instagram account, the voyage isn’t enjoyable for everyone on board since one person is tied in their seat by a wire tie. Although it is unknown who they are or why they need to be apprehended.
David Leitch, the director of Bullet Train, began his career as a stuntman and even worked as Brad Pitt’s stunt double in several of his biggest blockbusters, including Fight Club and Troy. David was questioned about his past employment as Brad’s stunt double and how their relationship has developed now that he’s directing the megastar in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
It was strange. Many times on site, I’d sit there and think, ‘That’s Brad Pitt!’ We have a bond and a friendship as a result of the films we worked on together. It was very nice to return in this new partnership where I’d evolved as an artist, he’d grown as an artist, and we’re making something that leverages all of our talents. It’s something you haven’t seen from him or me before. Meanwhile, his wife, Kelly McCormick, has added. I believe David was a bit apprehensive at the start of the first week since they had such a different dynamic and friendship before.” It was lovely to see them find out their lane, get into a rhythm, and then really create a team.
