India men’s hockey team make the nation proud by getting the bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2021

The India hockey team gave a piece of very good news to the country today and left fans awestruck by their amazing performance. India registered a 5-4 win against the German team and the India men’s hockey bronze medal match at the hockey stadium on Thursday was surely mind-blowing. Simranjeet Singh got two goals for the country at the hockey stadium along with Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Rupinder pal Singh who made their names top in the list. There was a 41-year medal weight by the Indian hockey team at the Olympics and finally, it has come to an end today. Surely the team rewrote the history today to name the Olympic medal defeating the German team. 

Simranjeet Singh scored a brace while Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh were the other goal-getters for world number 3 positioned India. Looking back at the records it is India’s third hockey bronze medal in the entire history of the Olympics and the other two medals that came to the country were in the 1968 Mexico city and 1972 Munich games. The thrilling comeback made the headlines and the Indians got the better of the German counterparts for sure.

Many fans have been congratulating the team on social media platforms and were also inundated with many tweets thanking Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for constantly supporting the Indian hockey team. As per the reports, the Odisha state government has sponsored the men’s as well as the women’s hockey team since the year 2018 and have invested around 150 crores. 

On Thursday after the Indian team’s victory over the German team, mister Patnaik was once again appreciated for all the contributions that he has made for the team. along with many other famous personalities including famous film producer Atul Kasbekar noted the team’s victory and wrote ” let this be the beginning of the second era of its golden age Well played lads. I’m actually shaking with joy. And thanks again to the likes of Naveen Patnaik and the sports and youth services department, the government of Odisha who believed and backed the flag of India. He ended his tweet with Jai Ho and really appreciated the team’s effort. 

Talking about the match, Germany had taken an early lead with Timur Cruz getting in the second minute and ruling the first quarter. However, Simranjeet Singh scored in the 17th minute to draw their level at 1-1 and the tension among the fans got high too. Later the German team scored two more goals in the second quarter and the score was 3-1. However, India fought back with 2-3 and they got back on track at the end of the second quarter. In the third quarter, Manpreet Singh side was ahead as Rupinder Pal Singh made no mistake with his penalty stroke to give India lead with 4-3 and it only got better at the end of the match where the score in the final quarter was 5-3 giving the Indian team an upper hand against Germany.
