MCU Blade: Release Information, Cast, and More

The next Blade feature for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now officially on the schedule, after a very, very, very long wait. To create the script for the reboot movie that will finally integrate the renowned vampire hunter into the MCU, Marvel hired Watchmen author Stacy Osei-Kuffour. Marvel has hired Bassam Tariq to serve as the project’s director. Most people probably know Tariq from his work on Mogul Mowgli.

The first Blade movie announcement occurred in July 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con. The movie’s announcement and the fact that Mahershala Ali, a multiple Oscar winner, would play the lead role were made by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Further details:

Even if it wasn’t always well received by critics, the Wesley Snipes-starring original Blade trilogy was exceptionally well received. At a period when the MCU didn’t even seem like a possible possibility, the movies helped Marvel’s vampire hero come into the open and increased his appeal. It also gave rise to a brief TV series.

When the new remake debuts, all eyes will be on it, and fingers crossed, it looks like it’ll be worth watching. Although the movie is still in its early stages and not much is known, we have a few critical insights to reveal about the upcoming MCU feature. Therefore, we’ve compiled all the information we currently have regarding the upcoming Blade movie, including narrative and casting information and updates on filming and release dates.

Online rumours claim that the film’s title will be Blade, the Vampire Slayer. However, since this hasn’t been officially revealed and given how much like Buffy it sounds, it seems highly improbable that Marvel will take that route. Currently, the picture appears to be titled Blade, just like the 1998 Wesley Snipes blockbuster.

New Blade Release date

Along with the filming update, Blade would hit theatres on November 3, 2023, right after Halloween, according to the Marvel SDCC 2022 panel. Although it’s still a while off, the studio has been working on this remake since 2013, so what’s a bit more time. And it certainly seems like the new Blade will be a fantastic film whenever it finally hits theatres.

The cast of New Blade

The first actor whose participation in the upcoming Blade movie was confirmed was Mahershala Ali. Since then, there have been a few intriguing casting news releases. Delroy Lindo, a celebrated performer who co-starred with the late Chadwick Boseman in the Spike Lee film Da 5 Bloods, has been cast in an unnamed part. In addition, The Cider House Rules, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Netflix’s The Harder They Fall have all featured works by Lindo. Aaron Pierre also joins the cast in an unspecified additional role. Pierre is most recognised for his performances in the M. Night Shyamalan films Old, The Underground Railroad, and Krypton. Additionally, there have been suggestions that The Boys actor Antony Starr would portray Dracula in the picture.

The only character formally confirmed for the film, given where we are in the production, is Ali’s Blade. It’s feasible that some other heroes and antagonists from the shared world may appear, given that the new film will need to incorporate the character into the MCU.

Other members:

The obvious candidates would be Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch or Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Marvel’s Midnight Sons supergroup, which included the most fantastic supernatural characters in comic book history, included both Strange and Blade. Could there be a Midnight Sons reunion in the MCU? Perhaps; who knows? It would be interesting if the Scarlet Witch appeared in something after her demise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Speaking of appearances by other heroes, what would be amazing? If Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) appeared in the upcoming Blade film, and Reynolds played Hannibal King in the third Blade film, Blade: Trinity. And you know that if Wade and Blade met, that would be utilised as a punchline.

Putting wishful thinking aside, we’ll have to wait and see what actors are cast in the film. After all, in the comics, Blade has had a long list of allies, foes, allies who became enemies, and enemies who became hesitant allies. Anyone may appear, including the mythical Dracula, Blade’s arch-enemy, or Deacon Frost, the vampire who indirectly inspired Blade. So keep checking for developments!

The plot of New Blade

As we’ve already mentioned, the plot of the forthcoming Blade movie is unknown, and there aren’t many other elements. As production approaches, hopefully, we’ll learn more about the movie’s plot or at least get a synopsis. We are aware of the character’s comic book origin, which may serve as the inspiration for the next movie.

When Blade’s mother was carrying him, a vampire assaulted her. The wife passed away while in labour but gave birth to a unique Eric Brooks, a half-human, half-vampire child. When he was an adult, Eric adopted the alias “Blade” and started using his Daywalker skills to hunt down other vampires.

More Story details:

Given that the first Blade movie was released more than twenty years ago, the new movie might include a refresher of this origin tale so that new fans can stay up to date. However, it’s also conceivable that the MCU will bypass the backstory and dive directly into the action. The character of Blade might also be introduced in a previous film before being further explored in his standalone feature. There is no reason to believe this strategy wouldn’t work for Blade, just as it did for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

In any event, adhering to the canon of the comics won’t be a significant issue for the reboot. That is, at least, what the film’s director, Bassam Tariq, has stated thus far. Tariq discussed this in an interview with Gizmodo, saying, “What’s so great is it’s not as boxed in as I think people imagine it to be, which I thought it was. But it’s quite exciting, and I think the reality is there is no Blade canon. In some comics, his name is Fred H. Blade, instead of Eric Brooks. Unfortunately, the runs never lasted that long, and there have been some interesting and exciting waves. But I can say [the new movie is] character first.”
