    3. After a walk in the rain, your pet’s paws, legs, and belly may pick up harmful chemicals that can be toxic if they lick them off their feet or fur. During damp and cold weather, dog booties are a wonderful option; make sure the booties fit properly.
    4. Cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold and freezing weather if at all possible. It’s probably too chilly for your pet if it’s too cold for you.
    5. Outdoor and free-roaming cats may find a heated vehicle engine enticing, but it is a deadly heat source. Check underneath your car, bang on the hood, and blow the horn to encourage feline hitchhikers to leave their hiding place under the hood before starting the engine.
    6. A car can act as a refrigerator, trapping the cold and killing the animal. Always double-check if dogs are allowed where you’re going before taking them; otherwise, keep them at home.
    7. Make sure your pet is wearing a well-fitting collar with a valid LA City dog license and ID tag, as well as being microchipped with your current contact information, which can assist you to reunite with your lost pet if you become separated.
