Sony Pictures Films India makes a great announcement! Slate of 17 films for next year! Know more

Sony Pictures films India has finally announced a brand-new slate which consists of 17 films. It includes Hindi regional language and Hollywood films that will be in theatres over the next year. One of the Bollywood films included in this 17 film slate is a comedy movie called Tera Kya Hoga Lovely – starring Ileana D’Cruz and Randeep Hooda, written by Balwinder Singh Janjua.  Another film is titled Looop Lapeta which is directed by Aakash Bhartiya and starring Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin. The movie is made from the German film Run Lola Run. An underwater thriller Dive, directed by Nitin Parmar will also be seen. Many other Bollywood films like Major, Saale Aashiq, Nikamma, are also included in the Bollywood list.

While talking about the Hollywood list, Sony will release biggies like Spider-Man: no way home on December 17th, Venom-2: let there be carnage on October 15th, Escape Room 2: Tournament Of Champions, Morbius, Uncharted, Ghostbusters – afterlife, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City, Bullet Train, and The Man From Toronto, that will be released in the upcoming months. Sony also released the horror-thriller film Don’t Breathe 2 in cinemas last week.

According to Vivek Krishnani, the Managing Director of Sony Pictures Films India, “there has been a huge description in feature film landscape over the past few months and there is also a serious shift in creative thinking that has taken place for film main cause to see what will work from a theatrical and OTT point of view”.  He further said that people will shortly come to theatres if they are provided with the things that cannot be replicated on a small screen such as the sound effects and great visual appeal for action or horror. 

Vivek further said that theatre opening will be successful as for families in India this is one of the bigger things other than eating out. The team has planned this especially for all movie lovers in India. He said, “we have to create larger than life narratives because if people make the effort to go to theatres and pay for F&B, they must also be given creative and rewarding content.” 

Well talking about the protection the company recently announced the web originals like Satramm Ramani’s comedy movie Helmet and Rensil D’Silva’s movie, Dial 100 on Zee 5 and the company still believes that OTT content has opted still in an individual capacity. The studio has further said that they will not phone new directors this year according to their statement. 

And to the south film industry especially the Telugu film industry has bounced back to business, Vivek Krishna Neha said that it is now kind of difficult for Maharashtra to once again open the cinemas for Bollywood films to start the locking dates.
