The wait for Tata’s new electric vehicle is over: a new electric SUV has been teased, but no Nexon EV update has been announced.

Tata Motors announced the launch of a brand new concept electric SUV on April 6th, 2022. Only modest design features of the concept SUV are shown in the promised video, making it difficult to guess which type this could be. It’s now evident that this won’t be the long-range Nexon EV or the Sierra EV, as it’s a whole new automobile concept. ‘Discover different’ is also written on the teaser.

Upgradation you need to know about it

The Teaser Concept SUV is painted blue, a colour that Tata Motors has used in its electric vehicle series. When it comes to the design, it has an LED light strip that goes over the front grille, back to the sides of the hood, and into the ORVMs. The SUV’s headlights are attached to the lower bumper, similar to the Harrier, Safari, and Punch, and have a triangle-shaped housing. The alloys’ design is also visible in the teased video, where it is seen wearing aerodynamically constructed grey coloured alloys with machine-cut design components. There’s also EV badging on the back, as well as the Tata Motors logo.

Later this month, Tata Motors will unveil the long-range Tata Nexon EV, albeit the release date has yet to be determined.

A more powerful 6.6kW AC charger is likely to be provided with the long-range Tata Nexon EV. The SUV will, above all, feature a larger battery than the current Nexon EV’s 30.2kW battery pack, which has a stated range of 312km on a full charge. The motor has a maximum output of 127bhp and a peak torque of 245Nm. It claims to be capable of propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 9.9 seconds, with a top speed of 120 kilometres per hour.

Price , availability , coming models

The long-range 2022 Tata Nexon EV is projected to be a touch more expensive as well, with increased range, additional features, and somewhat modified appearance. The electric SUV is currently available in four trim levels: XZ+, XZ+ Dark Edition, XZ+ LUX, and XZ+ LUX Dark Edition, with prices starting at Rs 16.78 lakh, Rs 17.13 lakh, Rs 17.82 lakh, and Rs 18.03 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
