Thunderbolts Movie (2024) | Release Date, Review, Cast, Trailer

Marvel Studios has revealed that Thunderbolts, which brings together a unique group of heroes and anti-heroes to make their mark, will complete Phase 5 of the MCU at San Diego Comic-Con in 2022. Marvel has the opportunity to explore something the MCU has never seen before by creating this new team-up adventure with Paper Towns director Jake Schreier and Black Widow head writer Eric Pearson.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in thunderbolts, released in 2021, debuted Valentina Allegra de Fontaine as the team’s likely leader, while three earlier films from the previous ten years revealed the other key figures.

This squad of thunderbolts is typically led by the well-known supervillain Baron Zemo in comic books, with interesting individuals like Hawkeye and Luke Cage appearing over time.

New Thunderbolts Version Coming from MCU

The MCU characters who will collaborate on Thunderbolts in 2024 were revealed by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during the company’s presentation at the 2022 D23 Fan Expo.

Val (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)

Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen)

Red Defender (David Harbour)

Belova, Yelena (Florence Pugh)

Cold Soldier (Sebastian Stan)

US Agent (Wyatt Russell)

Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko)

Even though they were all Thunderbolts in earlier stories, this particular squad won’t be seen together until the 2024 film.

The most well-known iteration in Thunderbolts, which later revealed itself to be the Masters of Evil, was commanded by Baron Zero. However, none of the previous star cast has yet been confirmed to appear in Thunderbolts.

For the confirmation of the star cast that might be a part of thunderbolts this time, we would be waiting for a little more while as soon as the production confirms whether they will be repeating the cast or adding the new one.

What Uses for the Thunderbolts Will Marvel Studios Make?

It should come as no surprise that Phase 5’s last film of thunderbolts departs so radically from the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon given that the MCU has always simply been inspired by the stories from Marvel Comics.

One significant change in thunderbolts is found right at the top, where Val will appear to be in charge of the crew while Helmut Zemo from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still imprisoned in the Raft. The future of Zemo is unknown, however, Val’s reference to his breakthrough in the final episode of their show together seems to suggest that she is interested in him in some unspecified way.

Additionally, Yelena Belova won’t have ever served as the team leader of the Thunderbolts before; traditionally, figures like Baron Zemo or the U.S. Agent have had that position. Yelena has demonstrated that she has what it takes to lead anyone on this team and ensure that their tasks are fulfilled in light of her popularity among fans and the way she has already reacted to Clint Barton’s death.

Depending on how Marvel chooses to name the team in the movie of thunderbolts, this squad may also be influenced by Thunderbolt Ross, which may either reflect what happened in the comics or veer away from the original premise. Although nothing has been established as of yet, the franchise may use William Hurt’s General Ross as a method to influence the team name if he dies in the narrative.

The Thunderbolts squad now consists of heroes and anti-heroes who have already made names for themselves and are up for new challenges, however, Marvel may undoubtedly introduce more of the original Thunderbolts characters later in the MCU chronology. The Multiverse Saga is merely the next chapter in Marvel’s vast narrative, thus the team is also certain to develop long after their single film. On July 26, 2024, Thunderbolts will make its theatrical debut.
