All you need to know about “Elvis” (Elvis movie)

Elvis (Elvis movie) has entered the structure. The trailer for Warner Bros.’ forthcoming biopic about the King of Rock and Roll, helmed by The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann, has been revealed.

Luhrmann’s films are divisive to some due to his unconventional approach to filmmaking, but, like the titular man in his 2022 big-budget biopic Elvis (Elvis movie), this is a film that will undoubtedly have vocal supporters as well as detractors. For quite some time, Luhrmann has been attempting to get the project off the ground. It was once announced that Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter for Venom, would pen the script. For the next five years, nothing was heard about the project until news broke that it was officially on, with America’s darling Tom Hanks in talks to play Presley’s ruthless manager Colonel Tom Parker and Luhrmann conducting a lengthy search to find the right young actor to fill Presley’s magnificent role. Meanwhile, the storyline follows Elvis from his early days as a performer through his final years in Las Vegas.

The film is one of many whose release date has been repeatedly pushed back as a result of the epidemic, but it will ultimately be released in 2022.

When will “Elvis (Elvis movie)” release?

After being promised an awards season-ready release date of October 2021, the film was pushed back three times until it was finally released in summer 2022. The revised release date is June 24, 2022, making Elvis Luhrmann’s first summer release since his first film, Strictly Ballroom, in 1992. The film will only be available in theatres. However, it is scheduled to be available on HBO Max in the future.

Who is being casted in “ELVIS (Elvis movie)”

Following speculations of Ansel Elgort, Harry Styles, and Miles Teller auditioning for the role of the King(Elvis), the role was finally given to Austin Butler. Butler, possibly the least well-known name among those purportedly in the running, has been acting in TV and cinema since 2005, when he was 14 years old. Butler’s adult roles include included appearances in The Shannara Chronicles, The Dead Don’t Die, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, after her early career as a minor Nickelodeon star in series such as Zoey 101 and Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.

Though Elvis is light on big-name actors, it does feature Tom Hanks as Elvis Presley’s controversial manager Colonel Tom Parker, whom he met while filming in Australia. Helen Thomson and Richard Roxburgh, who replaced original performers Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rufus Sewell due to scheduling difficulties, play Elvis Presley’s parents. Meanwhile, Olivia DeJonge from The Society plays Presley’s wife Priscilla.

In addition, the film will star recent Oscar nominee Kodi Smit-McPhee as country artist Jimmie Rodgers.

Storyline of “Elvis” (Elvis movie)

In September 2020, Warner Bros has released the plot and the synopsis for the film Elvis (Elvis movie) in a press release that has stated about the storyline which delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America, with one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley, at the center of that journey.”

The teaser suggests that the film Elvis (Elvis movie) would follow Presley from his upbringing through his rise to prominence and his untimely death in 1977 at the age of 42. Presley’s turbulent relationship with Colonel Tom Parker, his romance with the young Priscilla Presley, and his friendship with other artists, notably B.B. King, will all be shown in the film. In a recent interview with the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Luhrmann revealed that he is utilizing Presley’s tale “to create a canvas of American society in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.”

We know from the teaser Elvis (Elvis movie) that, unlike other recent musical biopics (Bohemian Rhapsody), Butler sings in the film. We hear snippets of “Heartbreak Hotel” as well as Elvis’ rendition of “Unchained Melody.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Elvis movie will be divided into three parts that will examine the iconic performer’s life. These appear to include his youth, his early life as a performer, and his connection with Priscilla, according to the teaser.

Where did “Elvis” (Elvis movie) get its filming done?

Elvis’ (Elvis movie) filming did not take place in Presley’s home state of Tennessee. At least, most of it didn’t. Instead, the majority of the filming took place in Luhrmann’s native nation of Australia. Production began in January 2020, but production was suspended barely two months later after Hanks and his wife Wilson tested positive for COVID-19. Filming resumed in September 2020, although it lost some of its talents, including recent Oscar contender Maggie Gyllenhaal, who was previously cast as Gladys Presley. The shoot lasted until March 2021, more than a year after it was first halted.
