On Friday Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah beacons India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals as he returned figures of 2/10 against Scotland in super 12 group 2 game in Dubai. Jasprit Bumrah, who was on 62 wickets prior to the start of the match, has made to the top of the list by surpassing leg spinner Yuzvendra Chalal.

Yuzvendra Chalal a leg spinner wasn’t in the India squad for T20 World Cup but has 63 wickets from 49 matches at an average of 25.30 and an economy of 8.32. On the other hand, Jasprit bumrah a right-arm fast bowler has 64 wicket from 54 matches at an average of 19.85 at an economy of 6.55. In addition to this of spinner Ravichandran Ashwin completes the top 3 places with 55 wickets from 48 matches at an average of 22.47 and an economy of 6.90. 

Jasprit bumrah picked the nation’s first wicket of the T20 2021 world cup at the time when he dismissed the New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill. Since the 2016 World Cup, it was their first wicket since India has gone wicket less against Pakistan. Bumrah returned 2/19, he ended up dismissing another New Zealand batsman Daryll Mitchell.

Well talking about the match against Afghanistan Jasprit bumrah claimed 1 for 25 which resulted to take his wicket tally to 61 in T20Is. On Friday the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah managed to surpass Yuzvendra Chalal. He equalised to his Indian team mate with the wicket of Kyle Coetzer, the captain of Scotland team in the third over. Although Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were the workers in chief who finished with 3/15 each, Jasprit Bumrah returned to end the proceedings and clean bowled Mark Watt for 14 along with a picture-perfect Yorker. 

Jasprit Bumrah was among the star performers of India’s dominating eighth wicket win over Scotland. India overhauled the target of 86 runs in 6.3 overs to boost their net run rate and higher the chances of making it to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup.

Well, all these achievements by bumrah adds to some of the impressive records he already holds for India. Bumrah became the country’s fastest bowler to grab 50 wickets in 2019 and achieved the feat against the West Indies in August of the year. During the same series, he also claimed a hat trick and became the third Indian bowler after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to dismiss 3 batsmen in 3 balls in test cricket. 

Further, this year earlier, Jasprit Bumrah claimed the title of the first bowler from Asia to grab a 5 wicket haul each in South Africa, England, and Australia. Currently, in the ongoing T20 World Cup Bumrah became the second-highest wicket-taker of India and is behind Shami (6 wickets from 4 matches). The India quick had taken 3/32 against Afghanistan and they have also followed it with another three against Scotland.

Now on Monday, the Indian team will face Namibia in their fifth and final match.
